Architecture, MSD: Property Development and Design

The Master of Science in Design: Property Development and Design is entrepreneurial in nature, focusing on material and economic sustainability through a design lens. Design professionals have become increasingly critical and primary members of development teams. The MSD-PDD program provides additional skills, expertise and credentials to augment the knowledge and vocabulary of architects, landscape architects, and designers working particularly in the development sector, enhancing design approaches to a variety of building typologies, while more readily linking this work to the zoning and financial metrics and models critical to a development project's success. Particular emphasis is placed on financial and material sustainability with a focus on mixed-use and affordable housing. Over the course of an introductory summer and two semesters, students will have the opportunity to work in cross-disciplinary teams engaging in design, finance, policy, and planning in both seminar and studio settings.

The degree and major requirements displayed are intended as a guide for students entering in the Fall of 2026 and later. Students should consult with their academic program regarding final certifications and requirements for graduation.
