Urban Real Estate and Development, Minor

This minor is designed to enable students to combine an interest in Urban Studies with real estate development. Students take a total of seven Urban Studies and Real Estate courses, in consultation with the minor advisor.  

Prerequisite to taking any Wharton courses: ECON 0001 Introduction to Micro Economics and ECON 0002 Introductory Economics: Macro. Also, check prerequisites for Wharton courses and fulfill.

Prerequisite to taking any CPLN courses: CPLN 5400 Intro to Property Development, and one other URBS real estate course, must be taken first before enrolling in any other CPLN courses.

SAS students may choose either a 3 URBS / 4 REAL‑CPLN or 4 URBS / 3 REAL‑CPLN course distribution. This flexibility is intended to maintain balance within the minor and to account for course availability and access.

Wharton students will take 4 URBS courses, and 3 in REAL-CPLN.

Take either URBS 2040 Urban Law or REAL 2040 Real Estate Law, not both.


The degree and major requirements displayed are intended as a guide for students entering in the Fall of 2026 and later. Students should consult with their academic program regarding final certifications and requirements for graduation.
