Transformative Nursing Education Program, Certificate

Graduate courses in education are integral for preparing future nursing leaders in education. The aim of this program is to produce educators who enrich learning experiences for nursing students in an academic environment, or for those nurses working in healthcare settings.

Designed for nurses interested in teaching in an academic setting or in the care delivery environment as a professional development specialist, this program combines adult learning theory with a toolkit of active learning and student engagement strategies.  Offered in an online format, graduate nursing students or nurses with graduate preparation, complete three courses for this program. Alternatively, students who are mainly interested in academic teaching can pursue just two courses (NURS 6000 and NURS 6010) aimed at preparing exemplary teachers in the classroom and clinical settings. Students exclusively interested in teaching in the practice environment (e.g., hospitals or clinics) can complete two courses (NURS 6000 and NURS 6020) in this focus area.
